Dear Nigel, I will never forget your energy; your imagination; your instinct for sometimes alternative and inventive ways of doing things; your courageous instinct to travel and discover. You seemed to be capable of anything you really put your mind and considerable strength and determination to. You helped to open my young eyes to the endless, exciting possibilities in the world around me. I remember your various idiosyncratic car choices, like the VW Beetle (the 'Rev') - which I copied. Thanks for all the lifts. And thank you for all the fun and all the not particularly competitive games: the haphazard golf; the cricket in the garden and at Leavenheath CC (your batting average went down); the hectic squash; the leisurely tennis; and darts (and the discovery of IPA) at The White Horse in Edwardstone. And a wonderful almost endless summer working at idyllic Spouse's Grove. So many apples - and then there were the pears... Happy, hard working days. And thank you so much for all the special music you encouraged me to listen to - and am still listening to: Ian Matthews, Dan Fogelberg, John Stewart: 'Just an old love song the boys can all sing...' and are still singing... And there were always books lining the shelves - not all in Chinese - and worlds to discover. You were an amazing older brother to have had: very much loved; very much admired and respected. I stepped into Brasenose College briefly this evening. It looked very beautiful in the evening light. I could just see you there. You seemed to be always the first to try things, very often led the way. Sometimes the journeys did not end well. Just like now. I am so sorry you did not find your way back home this time. Thinking about you very much. God bless you and keep you, always. Stuart
